“When a team delivers, it is usually with a great leader..”ANITA VERMA,CHRO – EXCITEL BROADBAND

My Journey

Leadership has different meaning to different people. Some says its leading businesses, some say its leading people while some would say its about leading teams.

I would share what has worked for me and how I have sailed through the journey for over two decades now.

Primarily clarity on personal vision, core values and working with empathy across teams has worked for me no matter what sector I have been in, what kind of an organization I have worked with.

Infact if one has his/her core values in place as well as non-negotiables, it makes it easier for one to understand ones preference for organizations and people one associate with.

Important revelation is also to know your fun zone and right enviornment where you can work seamlessly.

For me being in an environment where people are passionate about their organization and having fun while under eustress to deliver ticks the square.

When a team delivers it is usually with a great leader.

To move seemlessly from strategy to execution has been possible due to true association with superiors, peers and subordinates. It goes beyond ones organization, extending to people one meet at events, business platforms and social media.

One of the key challenges of leadership is to meet with the expectations of those you are responsible for and it becomes challenging due to the complexity and multiplicity of expectations and more so when all organizations have restrictions on which levers you can pull and which not.

However the key task of leadership is how to make  individuals and teams commit given those very limitations and the grit and perseverance to make through such challenges.

Key insights

  • Understand Yourself – your core values, vision and non-negotiables.
  • Expect limitations and complexities.
  • Empathy towards your colleaques.
  • Preseverance and grit to sail through complex challenges.
  • Decision making ability under stress and constraints without being unempathetic and unprofessional.
